HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind.–A Danville man suffered severe burns when the garage he was working in exploded into flames Saturday afternoon.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m. fire crews were called to the 2700 block of Gordon Graham Boulevard. That scene is located off Hendricks County Road 300 East near Hendricks County Aviation.

The burned man managed to get out of the burning structure on his own. He was taken by ambulance to Eskenazi Hospital in serious condition.

Flames quickly consumed the structure which held several antique cars. The fire also spread to a truck parked nearby.

Firefighters put the fire out in just over an hour. One firefighter was slightly injured and treated at the scene for heat exhaustion.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
