Interstate ramps closed after semi overturns, spills gasoline

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Two ramps from northbound I-465 remained closed Sunday morning after a semi truck carrying around 7,000 gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel overturned on the west side Saturday afternoon, causing a spill.

The ramps from northbound I-465 to Westbound I-74 and Crawfordsville Road were closed as of 4:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the INDOT website.

The Wayne Township Fire Department responded to the crash near the intersection of I-465 and Crawfordsville Road around 4 p.m.

Fire officials say the driver of the truck was not trapped and was evaluated on the scene.

An airport fire crash truck was called to the scene for additional foam application.

There was no fire during the incident. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
