INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Republican Jennifer McCormick is projected to win Indiana’s superintendent race and defeat Democratic incumbent Glenda Ritz.

The state schools superintendent had been the only state office Democrats controlled the past four years, during which Superintendent Glenda Ritz had frequent clashes with Republican legislators and Pence over education policy.

McCormick has been critical of Ritz’s management of the Education Department, and throughout the election she maintained she could work better with the General Assembly.
