INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Trey Hollingsworth has won one of this year’s most closely watched races, the battle for the 9th district congressional seat.

The Republican beat out Democrat Shelli Yoder, a candidate returning to the race after an unsuccessful bid in 2012.

Hollingsworth is a newcomer to Indiana politics and to the Hoosier state.

The 9th district seat was opened up when Todd Young decided to seek Indiana’s open Senate seat. A Democrat hasn’t held the seat since 2010.
