INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A 16-year-old who police believe was shot during a dispute over a pair shoes died on Tuesday.

Police say Juan Romero-Sanchez was shot in his abdomen at the Addison Creek Apartments in the 5700 block of Port Lillian Drive around 7:15 p.m. Friday.

Romero-Sanchez was taken to Eskanzi Hospital in critical condition. At one point, we’re told he had to be medically revived.

Police believe Romero-Sanchez was at a soccer field with his young nephew and some friends when two male suspects came out of the woods and approached. Officers say there was an argument over a pair of shoes, and then someone pulled a gun and fired.

Police described the suspects as two black males. One wore a red bandanna and the other wore a gray sweatshirt.
