Police investigate worker’s death at south side recycling plant

Investigators were called to the scene early Thursday morning

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Indianapolis Metropolitan police confirm that a man was killed this morning at Plastic Recycling, Inc.

It happened about 1:30 a.m. inside the recycling plant, which is located in the 2000 block of S. Pennsylvania St. When medics and police arrived they found the male victim lying face down on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The night foreman said a machine was clogged, and the victim climbed into the machine to release the clog, according to an IMPD report. The machine turned on with the victim still inside.

Homicide detectives were also called to the scene to conduct a separate investigation, according to police.
