RICHMOND, Ind. – Richmond Community Schools are on a two-hour delay Monday due to a police investigation.

According to an alert on the school district’s website, RCS called for the delay due to an “increased police presence” in the area. The move is a precautionary one to keep students safe, the alert said.

The SWAT team has been called to a home after a reported home invasion earlier this morning on South 14th Street. A man was taken into custody, according to Jeff Lane from Richmond radio station Kicks 96.

A woman holding a baby also exited the home.

The incident started around 4 a.m., and it appeared the man surrendered voluntarily once SWAT entered the home. The man was taken away in handcuffs.
