INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A driver reacting to something in the roadway was the underlying cause for an accident on the city’s south-west side. The driver reportedly told police they swerved to avoid hitting an object in the roadway but struck a fire hydrant. The incident occurred at Western Avenue and Morris Street just before 4:00 a.m.

The roadway has been temporarily closed while Citizen Energy has worked on shutting off water to that hydrant.

No other service interruption has been reported in the area.
