Teen faces attempted murder charge after firing gun near bus full of students in Logansport

LOGANSPORT, Ind. – Police arrested a teenager on an attempted murder charge after they say he fired a weapon at someone near a school bus full of children in Logansport last week.

According to Logansport police, the incident happened around 2 p.m. Friday and involved a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old who were walking across train trestles close to the Boondockers event center, where a Logansport Community School Corporation bus was parked nearby

The teens encountered a man and exchanged words; the 14-year-old pulled out a gun and pointed it at the man. The gun malfunctioned, and the two teenagers ran off. No one was hurt during the incident.

Police caught up with the pair a few hours later; both were arrested on criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon charges. The 14-year-old was also charged with attempted murder.

According to Logansport police, the two juveniles aren’t Logansport students.

School buses were delayed from dropping students off near First and East Market streets and East Melbourne Avenue because of the incident.
