Scene of fatal crash on I-70

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—One man was killed in a crash on Interstate 70 on Indianapolis’ west side, confirmed Indiana State Police.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the crash just before 5:30 a.m. on eastbound I-70, just west of I-465 near the Indianapolis International Airport.

According to officials, the driver, 35-year-old Daff Lalhmuakliana, struck a large interstate sign post. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Officials say the man’s 2009 Toyota Camry ran off the right side of the roadway for unknown reasons before striking the post. Lalhmuakliana was wearing his seat belt and the airbags did deploy.

An autopsy will be performed by the Marion County Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
