Lucky child joins Santa Claus Friday night to flip the switch at ‘Circle of Lights’

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Each year on the day after Thanksgiving, Indianapolis hosts the “Circle of Lights,” presented by the Contractors of Quality Connection and Electrical Workers of IBEW 481.

Santa Claus and Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett were on hand to usher in the holiday season and flip the lights on with a lucky child chosen via a coloring contest.

The lights were switched on at 7:55 p.m. The 242-foot display centerpiece on Monument Circle has 4,784 lights and 52 garland strands.

After the lighting, there was be a fireworks show. Toy soldiers and peppermint sticks encircled the monument.

There was also an engagement at the event! Devon Hunley proposed to Mackenzie Turner, and she said yes!
