GATLINBURG, TN – A man in Gatlinburg shared video on Facebook of his terrifying escape down a fiery Gatlinburg mountain.

According to WBIR, Michael Luciano lives in Chalet Village off Ski Mountain Road in Gatlinburg. He evacuated the mountain with his friend and dog last night, documenting the trip as their truck maneuvered around ravaging flames, burning trees, falling embers, and heavy smoke.

“Please Lord, let us get off this mountain,” Luciano said in the video.

Luciano said he’s worried there were people up on the mountain that were trapped and may have died.

You can watch his entire journey down the mountain on his Facebook page here.

More than 14,000 residents and visitors evacuated the Gatlinburg area because of the fires. Officials said during a press conference on Tuesday that winds over 80 miles per hour last night helped fuel the flames. They believe the worst is over now as winds have died down to 15 miles per hour.
