INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-- Thousands of colorful and bright LED lights are back up at the Indianapolis Zoo for the 49th presentation of Christmas at the Zoo.

For the second year in a row, the Indianapolis Zoo was nominated for USA Today's 10 Best Zoo Lights after placing in the top-five in 2015.

Workers started stringing the lights display in July and have worked since then to line the park entry drive, walking paths and exhibits with beautiful lights. Some are animated, some flash and blink with twinkling colors to bring the holiday spirit to the zoo.

Many of the animal exhibits will remain open for families and visitors to admire like the bears, tigers and flamingos. The Indianapolis Zoo's aquatic and ocean life exhibits remain open with sea lions, penguins and walrus open and swimming around exterior and open air tanks.

Find the mistletoe hidden throughout the zoo and register at the Indianapolis Zoo gift shop for the chance to win one of two Animal Art Adventures.

Christmas at the Zoo starts at 5:00 p.m. and runs until 9:00 p.m. There are opportunities for photos with Santa, cooking decorating with Mrs. Claus and the chance to drop off your child's letter to Santa.

Families can save on discounted tickets at participating Teachers Credit Unions and Donatos.
