Tom Allen is introduced as Indiana head football coach in December.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – After a tumultuous week in Bloomington that saw the resignation of Kevin Wilson and the permanent hiring of former IU defensive coordinator Tom Allen as their new head coach, Indiana finally has something positive to talk about.

Sunday afternoon they received their assignment for their first back-to-back appearance in a bowl game since 1991.

The Hoosiers will face Utah in the Foster Farms Bowl on Dec. 28 in Santa Clara.

It will be just the third time and first time since 2002 that the Hoosiers and Utes will face each other. The last time they squared off was in 2001 and 2002, Utah taking both wins.

In a statement released by the IU athletic department, newly named head coach Tom Allen said, “We’re excited to be able to go to the Foster Farms Bowl in California to play the Utah Utes. It’s a great opportunity for us to match up against another great conference in this country in the Pac-12 and play one of their better teams. The Hoosiers are fired up to be heading west.”

The game will take place at Levi’s Stadium with 8:30 p.m. kickoff on FOX.
