Indianapolis ‘shatters expectations,’ named one of 50 best places to travel in 2017

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Hoosiers have long been proud of our state’s capital, but now the rest of the world is finally taking notice. Indianapolis made “Travel and Leisure’s 50 Best Places to Travel in 2017” list.

The article mentioned the opening of Sun King Brewery’s new 15,000-square-foot distillery in Carmel next year; new hotels in the works from 21c, Ironworks, and home-goods brand West Elm.

Oh, and let’s not forget the food! Indy’s popping food scene played a big part in its top 50 ranking.

The Circle City had already been called the “most underrated food city in the U.S.” by Condé Nast Traveler with hot brunch spot Milktooth raking in all kinds of awards. In fact, it was just recently named one of “The Best Restaurants in America” by Eater magazine. The article by Travel and Leisure  also gave nods to fried-chicken restaurant Crispy Bird, “a sustainability-focused joint from James Beard Award–nominated restaurateur Martha Hoover and a new gastropub called the Owner’s Wife.
