BROWNSBURG, Ind. – Indiana Conservation Officers recovered the body of missing 8-year-old Shalom Lawson Saturday morning after he was reported missing on Friday afternoon.
“I’m not believing it, because Shalom was good,” Shalom’s father, Charles Lawson, said.
During Saturday morning’s search, authorities returned to the retention pond that was searched Friday. Officers reportedly utilized a side scan sonar and located an object in the water.
As divers were suiting up, authorities say Lawson’s body surfaced to the top of the pond.
His body was recovered at 10:27 a.m. and was later confirmed to be Lawson.
“You know it should have not have happened like this. We should have found Shalom so that there would be happiness,” Charles Lawson said.
Brownsburg police are continuing to investigate what happened.
Lawson was from Louisville and his family was in town visiting friends when this happened on Friday.
The Lawson family would like to thank the Central Indiana community the people of Brownsburg for their support during this difficult time.
“From the bottom of my heart, from my wife and from my entire family we just thank you for everybody for the love that they showed to us,” Charles Lawson said.
