8-year-old critically injured in head-on collision on city’s west side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Two adults and one child were seriously injured in a head-on collision on the west side of Indianapolis Sunday morning.

First responders were called to the scene near the intersection of Country Club Rd. and Sunngingdale Blvd. around 9 a.m.

Fire officials say a mother and her 8-year-old child were trapped inside one of the vehicles and had to be extricated.

The child was then transported to Riley Hospital for Children in critical condition, while the mother was taken to Eskenazi Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The male driver of the other vehicle was taken to Methodist Hospital in stable condition.

IMPD is investigating the crash.
