UPDATE: Victim in fatal far east side shooting identified

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indianapolis Metropolitan police say a man died after a shooting Thursday night on the far east side.

Officers were called to the 2000 block of Sweet Blossom Lane near 21st St. and German Church Rd. around 8 p.m. in response to reports of a shooting.

Authorities found the victim, 26-year-old Andrew Schwier, shot outside his home. He was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital where he later died. His cause of death was ruled as multiple gunshot wounds and his manner of death was ruled a homicide.

At this time, police believe a motive was a possible robbery. The case remains under investigation.
