IMPD investigating homicide after man killed on near north side

UPDATE: Police have made an arrest in this case.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – IMPD is investigating a homicide tonight on the near north side.

Just after 7 p.m., IMPD responded to a report of a shooting  in the 500 block of W. 28th St.

They found a man, later identified as James Butler, laying on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim was reportedly in his early 20’s. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the IMPD Homicide Office at 317-327-3475 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
