INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Police say a family member accidentally shot and killed a 15-year-old in a home on North Routiers Avenue.

Shortly after 4:15 a.m. Sunday morning, police arrived on the scene of a teenage male shot in the home near 21st and Post.

Police say the teen was sneaking in or out of the home when a family member accidentally shot him. He died on the scene.

Three others were also inside the home at the time of the shooting, including a baby.

Detectives are trying to figure out both how and why the shooting happened. Police say the family member who pulled the trigger is cooperating with police with their investigation.

It will be up to the Marion Country Prosecutor's Office to determine if any charges will be filed.
