Pedestrian dies after being struck by car in Hancock County

HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. – A woman died after being struck by a vehicle in Hancock County Wednesday night.

According to the Hancock County Fatal Accident Crash Team, the crash happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday near 7400 W U.S. 52 in New Palestine.

A car traveling east hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road. The pedestrian, identified as Linda Meharg, 56, New Palestine, was taken to an Indianapolis-area hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle, Logan Beeler, 19, New Palestine, was not injured, police said. Investigators are still interviewing witnesses in the case, and the crash remains under investigation.
