INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A driver traveling the wrong way on I-465 eastbound was killed on Thursday morning after crashing into a FedEx truck.

Troopers and emergency personnel were dispatched to the 31.1 mile marker just east of the US 31 exit around 5:30 a.m. for a head-on collision between a car and a semi tractor-trailer.

Officers found a white Nissan Sentra passenger car with heavy front end damage and a FedEx semi pulling double trailers. The driver of the Nissan was killed in the crash. The driver of the semi received minor injuries, and his passenger who was in the sleeper berth was uninjured.

The victim was identified as Milca B. Alvarado Polanco, 24, of Indianapolis.

Troopers are trying to determine why she was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes.

All lanes of I-465 eastbound are back open after they were closed for nearly five hours while workers cleaned up the crash site.
