Fatal shooting on the south side marks Indy’s third of the day

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A person has died after a shooting on the south side of Indianapolis.

On Saturday night around 9:30, police were called to a person shot on the 4200 block of Burkhart Drive. That’s near South Meridian Street and I-465.

The victim has been identified as Netfali Santiago Merida. Police said was in his 30s.

A security guard at the scene found the man sitting in his car suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The security guard attempted CPR, but unfortunately the victim died.

This is the third shooting IMPD is investigating today. A person died after a shooting on the east side this afternoon, and another person died after a shooting on the north west side this evening.
