Fire destroys barn on far east side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A fire destroyed a far east side barn filled with vehicles on Wednesday.

Crews were called to the scene of the fully-involved fire in the 3100 block of Carroll Road at about 4:07 p.m.

The Indianapolis Fire Department says the fire was marked under control within about an hour and 20 minutes.

Unfortunately, the 60 x 100 foot metal structure was a complete loss. Contents included a boat, an RV, a Harley Davidson bike, five cars and a “New Look Hair Design” salon, according to IFD.

Battalion Chief Rob Aldrich says the fire caused an estimated $1 million in damage.

The owner told authorities that his 16-year-old son reported the fire after he went out to the barn and discovered the refrigerator unit on the RV was on fire. He says the RV was the only item in the barn that was plugged in.
