Woman claims vehicle shot at while traveling with children on I-465

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind – A woman told police somebody shot at her SUV while she was traveling with four children on I-465 early Sunday morning.

Dispatchers say the black Chevy Traverse was traveling southbound on I-465 near 56th Street, on the northwest side of the city.  Dispatchers say they received a call from a distraught woman, claiming she was being followed by three different vehicles. 

The woman said a person in one of the vehicles started shooting at her SUV, striking it.

Police dispatch described the woman as being extremely distraught, as she had four children in the vehicle. Officers responding to the area were able to get the woman to pull over at a Flying J  Truck Stop around 4:00 am.

IMPD observed three or four bullet holes in the side of her vehicle.  Nobody was injured by gunfire.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances the woman described.
