Crash closes westbound I-70 at I-65 North Split near downtown Indy

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A semi overturned near the I-65/I-70 North Split on Thursday, spilling fuel on the pavement.

The Indianapolis Fire Department says the crash happened at mile marker 112.2 in the southbound lanes of I-65.

IFD says no injuries were reported in the incident, including the 61-year-old driver of the semi. Investigators believe a high rate of speed was the cause of the crash.

Hazmat crews were called to the scene to clean up the fuel and clear the roadway.

Multiple lanes of westbound I-70 are closed near the split as a result of the crash. Expect delays in the area.
