Man gunned down in home invasion robbery on Indy’s near northwest side
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A man was shot and killed in an apparent home invasion robbery on the near northwest side of Indianapolis early Saturday morning.
911 operators received a call shortly after midnight in reference to someone shot in the 700 block of Edgemont Avenue, just west of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street.
Responding officers were able to locate a 52-year-old male who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds lying in the yard of a home.
EMS personnel were dispatched but pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The victim is believed to be the owner of the home. He was later identified as Michael Zdenek.
Police say they’ve identified some possible suspects in connection to the shooting, but they are still gathering more information to determine a motive and exact cause of death. So far, no arrests have been made.
A gun was recovered from the crime scene that was apparently taken during a home invasion. It’s unclear if it’s the same weapon that was used in the shooting.
