Man dead after plane crashes in Kokomo, officials say

A single-engine plane crash into a soybean field in Kokomo, killing the pilot.

KOKOMO, Ind. — One person has died in a plane crash in Kokomo, according to the Howard County Sheriff’s Department.

The plane crashed in the area of State Road 22 between 300 East and 500 East around 5 p.m.

According to the sheriff’s department, deputies found a twin-engine plane a few hundred yards from the roadway in a soybean field.

The plane was occupied by one person, who died from blunt force trauma sustained the crash, according to officials.

The deceased has been identified as 59-year-old Dr. Daniel P. Greenwald, M.D. of Tampa.

It is unclear what caused the crash.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
