Person killed in hit-and-run crash on Indy’s south side; police looking for SUV
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A person is dead after a hit-and-run crash on the south side of Indianapolis, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
Around 7:15 p.m. Thursday, police were called to State Road 135 and East Thompson Road. When they arrived, they found a man lying in the street unresponsive.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say evidence on the scene and statements from witnesses led police to believe a hit-and-run crash happened at that location.
IMPD now believes a 2003-2008 Honda Pilot was involved in the crash. The vehicle will likely have front-end damage near the grill area and windshield. Police said SUV was heading north on State Road 135, struck the victim and then failed to stop to check on the victim or provide information.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending family notification.
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).
