INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- A man was shot and killed in a residential neighborhood on the northwest side of Indianapolis early Sunday morning.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the homicide, which occurred in the 5900 block of Bastille Lane.

Police say they were alerted to the shooting after 911 operators received a call for help just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Responding officers found the man suffering from at least one gun shot wound.

"I think we ruled out the fact that this is not a domestic disturbance, and we do believe this is an isolated incident," said IMPD Public Affairs Officer Aaron Hamer.

EMS personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Investigators have at least one person in custody for questioning. It's unclear if they are a suspect or witness in the shooting.

"At this time, we believe it is an isolated incident, so believe that everyone involved this morning is being talked to. So there's no one out on the loose. But we'll just have to wait and determine exactly what took place," said Hamer.

Anyone with information related to this homicide is asked to contact police or call CRIME STOPPERS at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
