Scarlett O’Hara joined the FOX59/CBS4 team in July 2023 as a multimedia journalist after reporting for WCIA-3 in Champaign, Illinois.
A lifelong Midwesterner, she traded Central Illinois for Central Indiana and couldn’t be more excited to immerse herself in the community. During her time at WCIA, Scarlett covered corn crops, crime, and everything in between. She especially enjoyed keeping the public informed with investigative stories, for example: when she brought to light the reason behind one police chief’s quiet exit from the role. She was featured as a guest on Illinois Public Media to discuss her thorough coverage of a controversial abortion ordinance passed by the city of Danville despite state leaders’ concerns over its legality.
Scarlett grew up on the southeast side of Chicago and loves fast-paced cities. That’s one of many reasons moving to Indianapolis has been a goal of hers! Although she has a family of Bears fans back home, she could be convinced to attend a Colts game (just don’t tell her father).
Scarlett is a proud Illini. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s College of Media in 2021 with a degree in journalism. While she was a student, Scarlett had fun learning the ropes of broadcast on UI-7 Live and Good Morning Illini. She also interned as an associate producer for MediaTracks Communications, creating story segments for two national radio shows. She was honored to spend time covering film and the arts as a Roger Ebert fellow, mentored by movie critic Michael Phillips.
Coincidentally, in her free time, Scarlett O’Hara loves watching movies. Yes, that is her real name. No, her parents are not Gone with the Wind superfans. Maybe it just means she was born for TV!
Scarlett looks forward to exploring the Hoosier State and getting to know the great people of it. If you have any story suggestions, you can reach out via email at sohara@fox59.com, or find her on Instagram/Twitter at @ScarlettOHaraTV.
