INDIANAPOLIS — Two men were killed in a serious crash after police said a driver ran a red light Sunday evening on Indy’s south side.

Indianapolis Metro police were called around 10:10 p.m. to the intersection of S. Meridian Street and E. Southport for a “potentially fatal crash.”

Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles and found three adult males with trauma injuries. Both drivers and a passenger were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police said one of the drivers and the passenger both died at the hospital. The other driver was last said to still be in critical condition.

According to investigators, the driver of an Acura Integra was southbound on Meridian Street when he failed to stop at the light at Southport Road. The Acura driver then hit a Hyundai Elantra as the driver was turning left onto Meridian.

The driver of the Acura died, as well as the passenger in the Hyundai.

The investigation into the crash, IMPD said, is ongoing.
