JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. – A deadly crash is under investigation in Johnson County.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 5:30 a.m. Thursday on northbound U.S. 31 south of County Road 400S.

Sheriff Duane Burgess said the crash involved a fatality. He identified the man who died as 43-year-old James R. Hall.

According to the crash report, the road was wet and it was raining at the time. The other driver said Hall, who was on a moped, was going slow in the left lane and attempted to pass him on the right side in his pickup truck.

As the other driver attempted to get past, Hall’s moped went into the right lane, leading to a collision, according to the report. Hall was ejected during the resulting crash.

U.S. 31 northbound was restricted for several hours as police investigated.
