INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating after one person was shot on the near east side of Indianapolis at a Family Dollar, according to IMPD.
IMPD said officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of E. 10th St. on a report of a person shot at approximately 3 p.m.
The victim is reported to be awake and breathing.
About eight hours later, IMPD announced the arrests of Jaylynn McKinney and Jeremy Helms for their alleged roles in the incident.
McKinney was arrested on preliminary charges of robbery and resisting law enforcement. Helms was arrested on preliminary charges of robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, aggravated battery, and resisting law enforcement.
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decisions. Arrests are merely accusations.
