UPDATE: Indiana State Police have cancelled the Silver Alert for Betty Stroup. She was found deceased on May 29.

KOKOMO, Ind. – Indiana State Police issued a Silver Alert for a missing Kokomo woman.

Betty Stroup, 80, was last seen around 5 a.m. Thursday. She’s believed to be in extreme danger and may need medical assistance.

Stroup is described as 5’3” and 118 pounds with gray hair and blue eyes. She was last known to be wearing burgundy pajamas with hearts on them. She may also be carrying a small black Shih Tzu.

Throughout the day, deputies with the Howard County Sheriff’s Office searched on the ground and using a drone. The search continued through the night without any new leads. Deputies later received a tip that Stroup was seen around 2 am walking on Morgan Street approaching IN 931.

Continued searches and follow-ups on tips went through the evening, using a bloodhound from the office. The office tracked Stroup from her house to downtown Kokomo near the post office before it was lost.

Anyone with information should contact the Howard County Sheriff’s Office at 765-457-1105 or call 911. They noted anyone with surveillance video systems should check their recordings to see if they have any sightings of Stroup.
