INDIANAPOLIS, Ind (December 23, 2015)–Indiana has now reached the 8th warmest December on record. That comes with temperatures around 10 degrees above normal.

Only .6 inch of snow has fallen this month. That’s four inches below normal. While many Hoosiers are heartbroken over the green Christmas, the city has been getting ahead on other projects instead of plowing snow.

“We’re continuing our day-to-day operations, whether that’s taking care of our roadways, our alleys, our forestry, keeping up with our parks,” said Jennifer Hashem, DPW Spokesperson. “We’re just continuing our day-to-day operations white we’re not combating snow season.”

Those projects involve filling 21,000 potholes, but when the snow does fall DPW has stockpiled 17,000 tons of salt to help clear the roads.
