SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (October 13, 2015) – The Shelbyville Fire Department was dispatched to a fire early Tuesday just after 1:30 a.m. after a police officer saw fire coming from a building.

When fire crews arrived on scene at Sandman Brothers Auto Sales, 56 E. Broadway, they found fire coming from the back of the building through an overhead door.

Firefighters say they were able to get a lot of water on the fire quickly and contain the flames to the rear of the building. According to firefighters, the building sustained major smoke damage.

It is believed that the fire caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages. However, the business says it will be able to open for regular business Tuesday.

According to Shelbyville Lt. Jeff Tennell, one firefighter sustained a minor injury, but was treated at the scene.
