FOX59 at the Indiana State Fair: Dairy Barn

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Fair has begun! FOX59’s Angela Ganote and Daniel Miller left the FOX59 studio for the Indiana State Fairgrounds Friday morning to meet with some of the many people who helped make this year’s fair possible.

They began with some fair royalty and chatted with Indiana State Fair queen Claudia Duncan about her title.

Governor Eric Holcomb was at the fair on its first day to deliver opening remarks. He sat down with Angela and Daniel afterward.

Britt Baker and Amber Hardwick were also at the fairgrounds on Friday. They spent some time with Pilar Bravo, a local 4H exhibitor, and her horse.

Jim O’Brien hung out in Animal Town for the morning. Animal Town is a farm setting where fairgoers can learn about farm life.

He even got to milk a cow!

Something you may notice if you go to the fair are vaccine stations set up throughout the fairgrounds. Mary Kay Foster, a registered nurse and special pathogens manager with IU Health, spoke about the fair’s effort to continue to get Hoosiers vaccinated.

You can’t go the fair without visiting the Dairy Bar! Jim joined Angela and Daniel when it came time to try some sweet treats. We talked to some of the hard working folks at the American Dairy Association about this year’s Dairy Barn.

If you have kids, they might enjoy a new attraction at the fair this year — a double decker carousel. Amber and Britt decided to give it a whirl.

Amber and Britt may have had the most fun assignment of the day. Watch the ladies take a ride down the big slide on the Midway!

We ended the morning with some live music courtesy of the Street Drum Corps. Check it out!
