Police have released the identity of a man found murdered in a home in Hancock County, while his wife sits in jail, as a person of interest in the killing.

Authorities say Gary Roberts, 57, was found shot to death in the basement of the home in the 3900 block of South County Road 800 East, around 12:30 p.m., Friday. The area is considered Greenfield although it’s unincorporated.

Roberts’ wife, 55-year-old Elizabeth Roberts, was taken into custody as a person of interest. She is being held at the Hancock County Jail.

Police say the victim had recently made threats to harm himself and others. Investigators from the ATF and Indiana State Police EOD were called in to asssit investigators because of the possibility of explosives in the home.

A search warrant was executed but no explosives were found.

An autospy is scheduled for Saturday morning.
