Purdue to add civics literacy requirement

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Earlier this month, Governor Eric Holcomb signed a law to require Hoosier middle schoolers to complete a civics course.

Purdue University now plans to require a civics literacy graduation requirement for its undergraduates, starting with incoming freshmen this fall.

Purdue President Mitch Daniels describes what led up to the decision.
