RECIPES: Warm-Spiced Baked Apples

  • 4 baking apples, cored and halved
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans, toasted


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Place apples, cut side up, in 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle evenly with brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice.
  3. Sprinkle water in bottom of baking dish. Cover baking dish with foil.  Bake apples until tender when pierced with tip of knife, about 25 minutes.  Sprinkle apples evenly with walnuts.
