CARMEL, Ind. (April 30, 2015)-- Most people wouldn't mind turning back time to get rid of a few facial lines.  Botox is one of the most popular ways to do it, but be careful.

“There have been situations locally where people have bought their Botox from non certified sources.  There are a lot of on-line opportunities, but much of this is being diverted through other countries, and some of it is not Botox at all,” said Dr. Jan Turkle of Turkle & Associates.

There are ways to save on looking your best for spring and summer.  The first thing you should do is look for specials at a reputable place.

On Friday, Turkle & Associates at 11455 N Meridian St in Carmel, is performing just Botox all day for 25% off, which can save you hundreds of dollars.

“Be careful because if you're buying Botox for just an unreasonably low price, it's certainly possible you're getting something that may not be real Botox,” said Dr. Stanley Harper of Turkle & Associates.

More and more patients for skin procedures are males.  An estimated 15 to 20 percent are men, which is double what it was a decade ago.

Here's another tip that'll save you time and money:  Take it slow!

“Get a feel for it, maybe just do one area of the face.  Make sure you like the results of the Botox, and the look you're getting, and then move forward,” said Dr. Harper.

If you are wondering about the pain, most patients would say it’s not exactly pleasant, but it’s also not bad because the needles they use are so small.

“Everyone has a different personality, but these are such tiny 32 gauge needles, they really don't cause a lot of discomfort,” said Dr. Turkle.

What can really cause discomfort is finding out you got botched Botox.  A good doctor can fix a lot of it, but you're still often out the money.

If you want to save money, check for deals because many plastic surgeons and offices have specials.  At Turkle, they have a monthly newsletter at TurkleMD.com, detailing when the specials will be.  Their next deal will likely be in June, but it hasn't been set yet.
