INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A person is dead after a police pursuit that ended in a crash on the northeast side of Indianapolis, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
The pursuit ended Sunday afternoon when the driver of the vehicle crashed into a tree before hitting a utility pole in the 8400 block of East 42nd Street.
Police say the pursuit began just after 1 p.m. when officers attempted to pull over a vehicle at 42nd Street and Post Road for a traffic violation. The driver sped off, and a pursuit lasted roughly 10-15 seconds before the crash occurred, according to officials.
The driver was killed on impact. Their identity has not yet been released.
