UPDATE: On November 18, police arrested 24-year-old Davoncia Beasley for the murder of Keegan Wolf.

INDIANAPOLIS — Police say a man is dead after a shooting on the city’s northwest side.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting occurred Saturday afternoon inside a Quality Inn & Suites in the 5000 block of Lafayette Road, just off Interstate 65.

Police originally reported officers arrived and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound but listed the victim as being awake and breathing.

Approximately an hour later, police updated the victim’s condition saying he had died as a result of his injuries. Police stated foul play is suspected in the man’s death.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the individual as 32-year-old Keegan Wolf.

Elizabeth Pearson said she lives in the Quality Inn & Suites and was very surprised to see the scene at the hotel.

“We heard all the cop cars and there was a fire truck, ambulance we heard it and it woke us up, we didn’t know what was going on,” she said.

Pearson said she saw IMPD officers continuing their investigation throughout the afternoon.

”I’ve seen them checking the cameras and just walking around. I really been trying to stay to myself because I really don’t fully know the situation,” she said.

IMPD Officer William Young said detectives are working to figure out what lead up to the shooting.

”So I’m not sure if the victim knew the suspect or obviously there was some sort of disturbance prior to shots being fired. That will come out as the investigation continues,” Young said.

Two people FOX59 talked to who were inside the hotel at the time of the shooting said they did not hear shots fired and only knew something had happened when police got there. Young said there are witnesses, though.

”Detectives are speaking with witnesses, some are cooperating with the investigation,” he said

Young said detectives are working to determine a description of the suspect and have watched video footage from inside the hotel.
