INDIANAPOLIS — A person was shot and killed on Indianapolis’ near north side Thursday, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
Around 7:30 p.m., police were called to East 30th Street & Central Avenue.
Police say they arrived to find a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition, where they were pronounced dead a short time later. On Friday, the victim was identified as 35-year-old Orlando Martin Jr.
A disturbance happened in the street that led to violence, then gunfire, according to IMPD.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
Roughly an hour prior, another person was critically injured in a separate shooting on the city’s near northwest side. Within the same time period, IMPD says a third individual walked into Community East Hospital suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. That person was said to be in stable condition.
