INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A person changing a flat tire was hit and killed on southbound I-465 early Wednesday morning.
Indiana State Police said the crash occurred just after 5 a.m. near the Washington Street exit on the west side of Indianapolis. 911 callers told dispatchers that one person was seriously injured and another person was performing CPR.
First responders arrived to find a man lying unconscious and unresponsive in the road.
Yves Thony Constant, 40, of Indianapolis, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the man’s car had gotten a flat tire and became disabled. When the man got out of the car to change it, another vehicle crashed into his car and hit him as well.
The right two lanes of southbound I-465 were closed in the area while police investigated the crash. The ramp from Washington Street was also closed. Lanes have since reopened.
