Man dies after shooting on east side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Police say one person was shot and killed in a shooting Friday evening on the city’s east side.

The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. in the 6100 block of Nimitz Drive, near East 21st Street and North Arlington Avenue. Officers found a man on the ground with a gunshot wound in a driveway. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

A witness said he saw other males at the scene who fled the area in a car. No description of the vehicle has been released.

Indianapolis police believe the suspects and victim knew each other, and say this is an isolated incident.
