INDIANAPOLIS, In. (October 11th, 2014) — More than 16,000 cats and dogs end up in Indianapolis shelters each year, and nearly half are euthanized.
The Indy Mega Adoption Event found homes for over 600 Saturday afternoon.
More than one-thousand cats and dogs came out to the Indiana State Fairgrounds with the hope of finding a new home. The animals were from area animal shelters and rescue organizations.
New pet owners were able to adopt already fixed, vaccinated and micro-chipped animals for a 30 dollar adoption fee.
Close to 700 successful animal adoptions were made at the first event this past June.
2nd Mega-Adoption continues Sunday, October 12th; 11am-7pm.
The event is an initiative of the Love Me, Fix Me campaign, led by the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust to help educate pet owners and increase spay/neuter rates in the Indianapolis area.
