MUNCIE, Ind. (August 12, 2015) -- Muncie Police officers and Delaware County sheriff detectives conducted a major drug sweep Wednesday, and arrested more than a dozen people. The sweep included the execution of search warrants and undercover drug buys for methamphetamine and heroin.

In total, 13 people are in custody thanks to the joint effort. One more person is still on the loose. Delaware County Sheriff Ray Dudley says it's not just about cleaning up the streets, it’s about ending the cycle of addiction.

"We're getting drug dealers, who are pushing the drug to our citizens who unfortunately are hooked on the drugs, getting them up to the Delaware County jail. Then we've got the opportunity to hopefully help them get off the drug," Sheriff Dudley said.

Delaware County continues to lead the state in drug busts and arrests, but one neighbor told us how appreciative they are of busts like this.
