INDIANAPOLIS,Ind (June 20, 2015)–Police have arrested a 14-year-old juvenile in connection with the murder of an 18-year-old female on the city’s northwest side.

Kayla Goggins was found fatally shot Friday near West 65th Street and Crandall Circle, just east of Michigan Road.

Police were called to the scene just after 11:00 Friday night, with reports of a large fight that escalated to the point that gunshots were fired.

Neighbor Albert King can’t believe how many young people have guns these days.

“I think we need parents, strong teachers to tell these young people that you don’t solve your problems by silencing an individual with a weapon,” King said.

Detectives arrested the teenage suspect at IMPD Headquarters.  This came after he was captured by IMPD’s Violent Crimes Unit without incident.

Reverend Charles Harrison with the Ten Point Coalition says the suspect’s Grandmother is a member of his church. He says he is providing support for the family, and offers his condolences to the family of Kayla Goggins.

The suspect was sent to the Juvenile Detention Center for processing.  The Marion County Prosecutor’s office will review the case and make a final charging decision.
